Work that actually
means something.

Disability support work is one of the most important jobs in the world, and it is usually paid and treated like the least. We are trying to do it differently. Real shifts, proper pay, genuine respect, and a team that has your back.

Why work with Right Now Supports

What you actually get that most providers don't offer.

SCHADS Award, paid properly

Full SCHADS Award rates, penalty rates where they apply, super on top, and travel between shifts paid. No dodgy sham contracts, no underpayment games.

Consistent shifts, not scraps

You get a proper roster with regular participants you see every week. We do not send you five different two-hour shifts across three suburbs.

Training that's actually useful

Paid induction. Ongoing skills development. Specialist training for complex participants. You leave with qualifications you can use anywhere.

Backup when it gets hard

Support from a team leader on every shift. Debrief after tough ones. A director you can actually reach. You are never alone out there.

Room to grow

Team leader, senior support worker, coordinator, house manager. We promote internally first. Tell us what you want to learn and we build a path.

Your voice matters here

Small team, flat structure. If something needs to change, we hear about it and we act on it. Not through a five-layer feedback form that goes nowhere.

What we're looking for

We hire for attitude and train for skill. Here's what that looks like in practice.

We want you if…

  • You turn up when you say you'll turn up. Reliability is the whole job.
  • You treat every person you support like the capable adult they are.
  • You can stay calm when things don't go to plan, and you know when to ask for help.
  • You take initiative without needing to be told every step.
  • You can write a clear shift note. No one is looking for Shakespeare, just clarity.
  • You're genuinely curious about the people you support, not just ticking a shift.
  • You're local to Melbourne's North, or happy to work here consistently.

Probably not a fit if…

  • You're looking for a "just show up and scroll your phone" job.
  • You treat documentation like it's optional.
  • You want to work "around" people instead of "with" them.
  • You can't commit to a consistent schedule.
  • You think calling in sick with 30 minutes' notice is normal.
  • You're uncomfortable around people with complex support needs.
  • You see support work as a "stepping stone" and nothing more.

What you'll need

The non-negotiable checks every disability support worker has to have.

Compliance basics

If you don't have everything yet, that's okay. We can guide you through getting each one and most are free or reimbursed.

  • Australian working rights
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willing to apply)
  • Working With Children Check (for under-18 participants)
  • National Police Check, current within 12 months
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificate
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module completed
  • Full driver's licence and reliable car (strongly preferred)
  • Two work or character references we can actually call

Qualifications & experience

None of these are strict requirements, but they help. We hire for attitude first, and train the rest.

  • Cert III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services, or similar (a plus, not required)
  • Experience supporting people with disability, mental health conditions, or complex needs
  • Bachelor or diploma students in nursing, OT, social work, psychology, or related fields
  • Lived experience, family experience, or informal caring experience
Don't tick every box? Apply anyway. Most of our best support workers came in without the "right" resume. We'll work with you on what's missing if the rest of the fit is right.
